Jessi's Adventure

Jessi stared out her window and let out a long sigh. She wanted more. Her little room was no longer the magical kingdom it once was when she was little. Jessi now desired real adventures. Sword fights, mystical creatures and forbidden lands. But she knew it was all just daydreams. With another sigh, Jessi stood and walked outside to sit on the tree swing. It was where she went to forget reality. As she sat there, swinging gently side to side, a young boy came running out of nowhere. He looked as if some horrible beast was on his heals. Maybe this was the adventure Jessi had been longing for. Jumping from her swing she followed the boy. Before she was running out of breath but before she could stop, she collided with the boy, tossing them both to the ground. Jessi quickly apologized over and over but the boy just grumbled as he stood and brushed off. She gazed up at him. He tossed his blue hair to the side and glared down at her. Jessi looked away but the boy's ocean clear eyes never left her. When she finally looked back up at him he was no longer looking at her but something behind her. Without warning, he grabbed her hand and pulled her behind a tree. He held a hand over her mouth as a monster tongue appeared. Jessi went to scream but the boy wouldn't let her. She could not believe what she had just seen. She could only think of a dragon but they are only in stories. When the boy relaxed, he let her go and just walked off. Jessi was not going to just let him get away. She wanted answers. Making the boy face her, she demanded answers or she would scream so the beast would return. The boy could see the truth in her big brown eyes and sighed. He explained who he was and what he was doing. Grant was his name and he was a hunter of mythical creatures. He would catch them and sell them. Jessi couldn't believe how cruel he could be but he said he had no choice. He either did as his master ordered or be killed so he did as ordered. Jessi wanted to help him. When she asked what she could do to help the boy started laughing and told her to go home. Jessi set her hands on her hips and said she was not leaving. Giving up, Grant explained what his mission was. The dragon that he was running from hides a baby. He is to collect the baby and sell it. Jessi was suddenly nervous. Facing a dragon was not something just anyone could do. Grant asked if she was scared in a mocking way. Jessi so no and said to lead the way so Grant did. After a long walk, they came to a water fall, they had made it to the dragon's lair. Not wanting to waste time, Jessi walked through the water and into the lair. Grant quickly followed, not wanting to be shown up by a girl. Piled of gold and other treasures where everywhere. Greats eyes went wide and ran to the nearest pile and began to fill his small pack. Suddenly the dragon appeared from the gloom. Jessi called to grant but he ignored her. Without thinking, she ran over to a sword she spotted then stood in front of Grant with the sword pointing toward the dragon. She was scared to death but was not going to let the beast kill Grant. Noticing what was happening, Grant ran under the dragon, leaving Jessi to face the dragon alone. Jessi dropped the sword and followed Grant. Something behind a pile made an odd chirping sound. Jessi grabbed Grants arm and ran toward the sound. They cam face to face with the baby dragon. Grant couldn't believe how easy it was but Jessi reminded him of the mother who was not so happy. Grabbing the baby, Grant headed for the only way out before he was roasted. Jessi, not wanting to face the mother again, also ran for it. Lucky for Grant he got out safely. But the dragon's tail slammed down in front of Jessi. She slid to a stop and faced the dragon. Fear filled her whole body as the dragon opened it's mouth. Suddenly Jessi woke up and found herself sitting on her tree swing. Smiling, she headed to her room. That was enough adventure for her. Maybe she was better off staying in her room after all.
