Before the cat had time to react to the scene in front of her she was forced to lift her sword to block an attacking hell hound. Two others went to attack. Using her sword to throw the first one back, the girl's sword began to glow purple as she gathered her magic. She threw a ball of magic at the duo but they dodged and as one the three hounds attacked. Not able to block all at once, the cat was knocked to the ground, hissing in anger. The hell hounds breath was hot on her face as she fount them off. Getting bit and scratched, she knew she wouldn't last long like this. And not able to reach her sword the cat was doomed to be eaten alive by the dogs.

As Dakota transformed, one of the hounds dug it's claws into her shoulders. She growled in pain and tried to shake it off. With swipes of her paws, she was able to keep the other to away. The hound was not strong enough to hold on and began to slip down Dakota's side. Blood began to coat her fur in red as the cat clawed and bit at the dog, trying to get it off. The hell hound bit and clawed in return fueling the feline's rage. Reaching at far as she could, the cat sank her teeth into the hound, yanking it off of her and throwing it into the other two. Opening her bloody jaw, Dakota threw a ball of purple energy at the hounds, killing all three.

Looking around for her next battle, she noticed Whitney had left Damien to fight. Jumping over a zombie, Dakota ran to the professor's side, attacking the hell hounds that had planned to attack him while he was passed out. The cat hoped the teacher would wake soon. The school needed him but he made no signs of waking.

Digging her claws into the muzzle of one of the hounds, the cat threw it at the others causing them to jump out of the way or yelp in pain as their comrade landed on them. Zombies were harder to kill but Dakota started to remember her training and began to take them down as well. Her favorite were the skeletons. They were good for getting dead skin and other things she didn't want to know out from between her teeth as she crunched on them.

Panting heavily from her fight, the feline was using all she had to stay on her feet. Her body began to shake and her sight was starting to fail her. Dakota could feel her energy and will to keep fighting fading and fast. Suddenly a large arrow stuck Dakota in her side. She roared in pain but had no time to see where it came from. A troll attacked her head on and the cat stood her ground as she protected her teacher. Killing the troll, Dakota took the pause in her fighting to try and catch her breath but another large arrow stuck her in the back leg. Roaring again, the cat dropped to the ground in pain and too exhausted to stand. Taking advantage of her weakness, the trolls nearby ran over and began to kick and attack the girl. They were too quick to bite but Dakota still used her claws to keep them back as she panted heavily.

Dakota's sight came and went as she laid there. She was at her breaking point and knew if she pushed herself anymore she'd kill herself. Just as her sight returned, she watched as someone slaughtered the trolls. She was sure she was watching Whitney but the girl seemed smaller and wore different clothes. Ringing filled the cat's ears and she was unable to hear what was being said. All she knew was the girl was not talking to Dakota. Then Victoria came into sight and Dakota understood who the new girl was talking to. Using the last of her energy, Dakota looked at the arrow in her side. Wincing, she leaned over and bit down hard on the shaft then yanked with all she hand. A loud growl filled her throat. Dropping the arrow, the feline moved and did the same to the one lodged in her back leg as Victoria and the new girl defended her.

Dakota transformed into her cat form and laid her head down as the world began to spin. The new girl grabbed her and cradled the cat in her arm as she fought. Too tired to care, Dakota curled up and closed her eyes as the war rang out around her. The the voice of Melfara rang out over everything.

“"Ancestors hear my prays! Let your light shine my ways. Mother of hope, I bow to you. Turn my sky into blue. Brother of sacrifice be so nice. Banish the people from this land. Leave the ones who near you stand. Sister of strength overcome my breakage. Father of truth show me truth. King of the kings, I turn my prays to you! Give your hand to those who are few. Raise you voice. Give me choice. Don't allow those prayers go in vain."

Dakota opened her eyes and watched as lightening stuck many of the creatures attacking the school. Blinking to clear her sight, she then looked around and watched those still standing began to leave. Shock filled her. Did they win?

The girl that was carrying the cat knelt and looked at her. Lifting her gray eyes, Dakota was still trying to figure out who the girl was. Maybe it was Whitney and her mind was just messing with her. The placed her beside the professor while others talked. From the little Dakota gathered, they needed to talk and she knew the best place was Melfara's office. Gathering her energy she spoke up about them going to the office to speak so they were not overheard by anyone. The cat closed her eyes and as everyone made their way to the office, Dakota ended up falling asleep. Unlike most of the school was did not have the stamina to fight for such a long time and with her at her breaking point all she wanted was sleep.
