The sun peeked through the tree branches and shone across Sting's face, highlighting the yellow in his fur. Lifting his head, the wolf yawned and stretched. When something beside him moved, he opened his eyes. The tan and brown fur made the night come flashing back. Lost in a new part of the forest he roamed, the wolf and his new love were forced to find a safe place to hide out till day break. Finally able to show his affection for the girl, String began to lick at Honey's fur. He felt her stir then wake but continued to clean her fur. The boy meet the girl's eyes when she looked at him but this did not stop him from showing his love her her. Moving his head, he stopped licking the fur around her back and shoulder and licked at her muzzle causing her to growl in happiness.

Pressing their noses together, Honey told her lover good-morning which he happily returned the statement. Honey stood and shook out her fur before stretching. Sting's eye ran along her body. She was built for fightingt yet rarely did. It was thanks to her strength that they were even able to eat the night before. String was built for speed allowing him to track and run down pray but without Honey's strength to bring the animal down, String would have most likely gone hungry. He owed her so much for the support she's been to him but he knew he'd never fully repay her.

A paw landed on his face, pulling him from the memories of the night before. He knew Honey wanted to get home and had to admit to himself that he was longing for his den as well. Standing and copying Honey's shaking, String was ready to begin their journey.

Brushing his shoulder against Honey's, String told her she was it before taking off. Claws digging into dirt, String quickly qined speed as his love followed close behind. Finding an even pace, the boy stayed just out of reach of Honey's teeth and claws. Flashing her a smirk, Sting dodged a tree to show off. Rolling her eyes, Honey jumped over a fallen log and tried to even out with her love but could not seem to reach his speed. And so the game continued with both trying to out do the other.

That evening, Sting finally knew where he was and led the way home with Honey at his side. Their game long over as night began to creep through the trees. The wolves kept running, knowing they were safe in their hallow. A howl broke out, allowing the other's to know they couple was safe. Honey's voice carried through the trees and not able to help himself, Sting joined her howl. It felt like their souls were intertwining causing the fur along Sting's spine to stand up. Honey's own fur also stood on end as their voices weaved together. Before long they could hear their call answered by the others. Home was right ahead. Though their journey had been fun, Sting made a personal vow to never put Honey in that kind of danger again. He would fall apart without her.

Wolves of different sizes and colors stood outside the den, watching and waiting as the couple ran over. Family and friends welcomed the duo home. Joy filled Honey as she saw how much her family and friends had missed her. It gave her pride to belong here. String was also joyful will such a warm welcome. He knew this is where he belonged and would never doubt his place again. But more important, the lovers were able to live without fear in their home where their love was free to grow like the tall trees that surrounded and protected them.
