I was walking home which was normal for me but today was different. The pack was up to something and I could smell it in the air. I walked down the dirt road with forest on both sides of me with beautiful green leaves covering them. We lived in a forest and owned at least twenty or thirty acres of land for the pack to roam without causing problems with the people around us. Walking up the driveway, I listened to the wind blow through the trees when the sound of running paws rang in my ears. I slid off my jacket hood and listened closely. The sound was gradually getting closer and soon was clear enough for me to count three different sets of paws. Curiosity got the best of me and now I wanted to know who was running around.

I checked to make sure no one was around then stripped down. I left my book bag and clothes on the porch steps then bent over so I was standing on my hands and feet. Then I set free the howling wolf hidden inside my body. My hands and feet turned into paws and mouth into a snout as I grew wolf ears as well as a tail. The blond hair on my body turned to tan fur. My green eyes darkened into a dark green that made them look almost black. My senses heightened and after the change was over a minute later, I stretched out my new body.

I loved my wolf form over my human form. I would never be human if that was a choice. I was free in this form. I was able to run and enjoy the chase of a hunt. I was able to do what I wanted and when I wanted without someone breathing down my neck. There were no laws or rules excepted to stay within our territory. Another advantage was everything feared our kind. We are on top of the food chain, humans only think they are but even the weakest of our pack could kill a human without trying. We keep our convent though because if humans found out about us we would become monsters. We are not to be feared or experimented on. We have feelings and can feel pain just as easy as humans do.

Once I was sure I was completely turned I took off running toward the footfalls I heard. My heart racing, the wind through my fur, and the scent of the woods was heaven to me. I could run till the day I died but of course my body did not agree and soon I slowed to a trot. I listened all around me but couldn’t hear anything. I wondered if the footsteps I heard were of others passing through. I stopped and listened closer, not sure that they had not left yet. After a few minutes of listening I gave in to the thought of them passing through so I turned tail and started walking home.

I loved being in my wolf form and was halfway tempted to stay like this all night. I walked through the yard to the front of the house planning on changing back and telling everyone what I heard. When I got there I couldn’t find my clothes. I looked around confused. I was sure I had left them on the stairs. Then I hear a laugh from behind me. I turned, baring my teeth and growling a warning. I backed off when I realized it was Marc.

He was part of my pack but was not higher ranked then I was yet I acted as if he was. His brown hair was sitting in front of his eyes making him look better than I wish he would. I sat with my ears laid back against my head. In his hands were my clothes and I had a feeling he wanted something from me but I had no idea what it could have been. I was not going to turn back until I was in my room so I waited to see what he wanted.

“Hello princess.” He grinned with a spark in his blue eyes.

I growled in response.

“I missed you. I have a present for you though. I hope you like it.”

He walked off with me unwillingly following since he still had my clothes. He walked to the garage and waited for me. I trotted to his side and waited, on edge. He lifted the door and beside his Sapphire blue Chevy Silverado was a black Viper with blue flames running down both sides. My eyes went wide. He did not buy me a car! I laid my ears back and looked away. I couldn’t accept such a gift and was not going to. I wanted to turn back and tell him I was not going to take it but didn’t dare.

“Happy birthday.”

I wined in reply.

“What’s wrong?”

I got up and started walking off. I couldn’t take something so grand from him and I was not going to take it for free either. I walked into the woods listening to his steps follow. My ears stayed against my head and my tail now sat between my back legs. Once I was far enough I laid beside a tree with my paws over my eyes. Then I heard a light thump so I looked to see my clothes next to my head and Marc walking away. I felt horrible so I turned as fast as I could which was not fast enough. Then I got dressed, almost falling over many times. Once I had my shirt over my head I ran after him.

“Marc wait. Please.” I called out knowing he could hear me and hoping he’d listen.

“You don’t have to take the car if you don’t want it. I thought it would be a great gift since I’ll be leaving tomorrow. I wanted to be here for your party”

“Party?”

“Just go inside and you’ll see what I’m talking about.”

“Look I’ll keep the car, okay? But why are you leaving?”

“I was sent to Georgia to make a treaty with another pack. I’ll be back in a few days, I promise.”

Now I really felt ashamed for how I acted, “I’m going to.”

“You can’t. You know Leon will not allow you. Besides it won’t be long.”

“I’m going no matter what anyone says and just watch me tell Leon. If he tries to stop me I’ll leave anyway.”

He laughed, “It’s your life you’re throwing away.”

I smiled, “I’m strong enough to take on any member of the pack and get away with it.”

My pack starting with the alpha male was Leon. With his dark brown hair that is cut short and dark blue eyes. He was the one all the girls wanted. We have no alpha female because she was killed in a pack fight and Leon never chose another. I never met her and Leon doesn't talk about her so I don't know anything about her. O’Rion is Leon’s only son as well as his only child. O’Rion has black hair an inch past his eyes and was tall. He cannot wait to be alpha male of the pack because then he can do anything and make anyone do anything he wanted. He thought he was the center of attention when he almost never was. Next is Anya who is like me. She is O'Rion’s mate but all the teenage boys are still after her.

I’m Leon’s adopted daughter. I’m outgoing, strong for being a female. I am on the shorter side and everyone loves making fun of me. With what I’ve been through as a child I see everything differently. I don’t ask for much and give a lot. The pack does not have to accept me and could make me leave anytime they want but yet they take me in with open arms. Most of the pack is family in some way but I was an outsider. I just ask for a family and friends whom the pack gladly gives me every day yet I know I’ll never be able repay them.

My chosen mate is Josh. He has brown hair that is long in the back and short in the front. He has golden eyes and is always watching over my shoulder. He always wants to know what I was doing or where I am going and with whom I was doing everything with. I swore to him that if he touched me I’d make him regret it. My threat worked because in all the years I’ve been with him, he has not once touched me. I was proud of myself for that but I also had to be careful because Josh was not the only teenage male and I was one out of three teenage females.

Jake is Leon’s right hand man also known as the Beta. Jake has dirty blonde hair that is always pulled back and is extremely tall. If anyone tried to hurt our pack they would answer to Jake and most never lived once he was done with them. Diane is Jake’s mate and they loved each other deeply. She had red hair that stopped at the middle of her back. Her eyes were a light blue color that matched her hair in a strange way. She was like the mother of the house. She watched over everyone and cared for them when they needed someone. She was very caring and kind but would become very mean if you did not listen to her.

Rave is next. I have a crush on Rave. We get along great but he’s quiet and to himself more than anyone. He has blonde hair that is also long and would cover his eyes if he didn’t keep it pushed to one side. His brilliant green eyes make my heart melt every time they met my blue eyes. He is a few inches taller than I am but never makes fun of me being short. His mate is Nina. She has blonde hair as well that is cut to her shoulders. She normally has clips or a headband in her hair. She can be friendly but her mood can change quickly and hates girls who even look at Rave. She is protective of him so I have to be careful around her.

Marc is my best friend and has been closer to me than anyone besides Leon but he is the Omega. He has hair was similar to Josh’s, long in the back and short in the front. He was the first person I met in the pack. When I came here Leon put him in charge of keeping me out of trouble which he does not do well. We do everything together. We go on walks when I have time and he enjoys taking me to town to eat or shop. He loves to joke and race which keeps us in a good mood.

The pack I live with was not my true family but I was born into the werewolf life and needed a pack. Both of my parents died when I turned six so I do not even remember their voices or their faces but the closest I have to a father is Leon and the closest I have to a friend I can truly talk to is Marc. Leon tried to break me once by locking me in my room but of course I tried to tell him he would not control my life yet he would not listen to me. To prove my words I broke out and left for a week before returning. He never tried breaking me again. Everyone id different and has their place but this is what I call home and to me it’s perfect.
